For JETCCFA purposes, study means educational activities designed to prepare a person for the workforce or increase the ability and capacity of the person to undertake work.
As of 9 May 2012, this is restricted to courses at the Vocational level Certificate II and above, or a higher tertiary qualification but not beyond Graduate Diploma level (therefore excluding Masters' and Doctoral degrees).
A person will only be able to enrol for courses that are a step-up, attainment wise, from a course they have studied previously, or a course at the same level only if it is an area that is identified as having a skills shortage as identified on the National Skills Shortage List.
Any existing JETCCFA person (prior to 9 May 2012) will be grandfathered on previous JETCCFA study conditions and hours until they complete their current course of study or 31 December 2012, whichever comes first.
