4.11.3 JETCCFA Entitlement Variations - Date of Effect

Summary

This topic explains the relevant dates of effect for changes in a claimant's assessment that affect their JETCCFA entitlement. To ease the administrative burden on services (1.1.A.90), and for the ease of recipients, the date of effect for most of these changes occurs on a Monday.

This topic covers:

  • the fact that several dates of effect can apply to each change of circumstance, and
  • dates of effect for particular changes in circumstance.

Several dates of effect may apply

Each change in a claimant's circumstances usually generates the following 2 actions:

  • The FAO sends a letter detailing the date and nature of the change of circumstance to the claimant.
  • The FAO applies the change from a date of effect.

The dates of effect of these actions do not always coincide. The FAO applies the change from the Monday of the relevant billing week. This may not be the actual date of effect of the change in circumstance advised in the letter from the FAO. In some instances, 2 different dates of effect can apply, depending on whether the change results in an increase or decrease in entitlement.

Dates of effect for particular changes in circumstances

For changes to a person's circumstances, the following table explains the date of effect applying when the FAO sends a letter, advising of the details of the change to the JETCCFA recipient only.

Example: The week when the change occurred.

If a person...

The date of effect in the letter is the date...

The date of effect the FAO uses is the Monday of the week...

- care started, or

- includes the 28th day before the date the claim was lodged.

advises of an increase in their JETCCFA activities that increases their JETCCFA hours for a child,

the event occurred or will occur.

that includes the start date.

advises of a decrease in their JETCCFA activities that decreases their JETCCFA hours for a child,

the event occurred or will occur.

- their EPP is no longer in force,

- their activity is discontinued or completed,

- stops using approved care,
