For the purposes of CP, permanently or for an extended period means for a period of 6 months or more, unless the care receiver (1.1.C.21) has been certified by a medical professional as being in the final stage of a terminal illness (1.1.T.86).

For the purposes of CA, permanently or for an extended period means 12 months or more unless the care receiver (1.1.C.21) has been certified by a medical professional as being in the final stage of a terminal illness (1.1.T.86).
Exception: If the person has been certified by a medical professional as being in the final stage of a terminal illness, it is accepted that the care and attention is required permanently, even if the person is expected to live less than 12 months.
