A visa is an authority to travel to, and remain in, a country. Australian visas may allow a person to remain in Australia (1.1.A.320) permanently or temporarily.
A PERMANENT visa will always appear as a sticker affixed to a page of the person's passport or travel document. The visa usually appears as a sticker affixed to a page of the holder's passport.
A TEMPORARY visa may be a sticker in the passport as well, provided it was not issued electronically.
An ELECTRONIC visa is normally issued for tourists from those countries for which the electronic system has been implemented.
