3.6.6.90 Continuation of MOB during Leave from Employment & Training

Leave during paid employment

Recipients in paid employment remain qualified for MOB during all periods in which their contract of employment has not been terminated, and they receive income from their employer.

Example: Periods of workers' compensation, recreation or sick leave, flextime, rostered days off and long service leave.

Exception

Recipients who fall sick for a period less than or equal to 3 months and who do NOT receive income from an employer, remain qualified for MOB if they:

  • are unfit to attend work, AND
  • remain employed, AND
  • do not have any sick leave entitlement, OR
  • run out of sick leave.

Absence from voluntary work because of illness (standard rate)

A standard rate MOB recipient who has voluntary work to resume, remains qualified for standard rate MOB for a period of up to 3 months if they are unable to attend work because of illness.

 

Leave during vocational training (1.1.V.60) (standard rate)

Recipients in vocational training remain qualified for standard rate MOB during:

  • regular absences from the course, as long as they are managing to attend for 32 hours every 4 weeks, AND
  • normal course holidays, as long as they continue to be registered for the course.
