New International Social Security Agreements

Australia has signed new social security agreements with:

Greece


Finland

On 10 September 2008 the Australian Ambassador to Sweden, Mr Howard Brown and the Finnish Minister for Social Affairs and Health, Mrs Liisa Hyssälä, signed a Social Security Agreement between Australia and Finland.

We anticipate that this Agreement will come into force on 1 July 2009.

Japan

On 27 February 2007 The Minister for Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the Hon Mal Brough MP, and the Japanese Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Hideaki Ueda, signed the Social Security Agreement between Australia and Japan.

We anticipate that this Agreement will come into force on 1 January 2009.
