Anglicare Tasmania Inc. (Anglicare) is a state-wide non-government human services agency which employs over 600 staff and delivers over 40 social support programs to disadvantaged Tasmanians.Anglicare provides a range of mental health services including supported accommodation, social support, community based support and flexible day to day living assistance for people with severe or persistent mental health issues and includes assessment, crisis intervention, individual program and recovery plans, counselling and family and peer support. Specific services that support people with mental illness are:
- The My Place Program which provides intensive support for people with mental illnesses who are at risk of homelessness,
- Supported accommodation services and crisis accommodation including a supported residential facility in Launceston and Burnie, and
- The Personal Support Program which assists people with mental illness who have severe barriers to community and workforce participation. Approximately 80% of participants have identified as having some form of mental health issue.
Anglicare's mental health service model is centred on consumers and recovery and works collaboratively with the general community, government and non-government agencies and health care providers. Anglicare has been providing mental health services in Tasmania for over ten years and has strong community linkages and well established referral pathways into government and non-government support services.
