  •  Apology to the Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants

    The Australian Government delivered a formal apology to the Forgotten Australians and former child migrants at a special remembrance event in Canberra on Monday 16 November 2009.

  •  Child Abuse Prevention

    The Australian Government is taking the lead with State and Territory Governments and the community sector to develop and implement a national framework for protecting Australia's children.

  •  Early Childhood Initiatives - Child Care Links Projects

    Child Care Links was developed as a pilot program and uses child care centres in disadvantaged areas as community hubs to link families with young children to local support services and to strengthen community networks.

  •  Playgroups

    Playgroups provide opportunities for children's social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.

  •  Communities for Children

    This is a place-based early intervention and prevention approach to child protection and development. Non government organisations are funded in 45 disadvantaged sites throughout Australia

  •  Early Childhood - Invest To Grow

    This program provides funding for early childhood programs and resources. Its aim is to contribute to improved outcomes for young children through prevention and early intervention

 Family finance

  •  Commonwealth Financial Counselling (CFC)

    CFC provides free financial counselling services to people who are experiencing personal financial difficulties, including due to circumstances such as unemployment, sickness, credit over-commitment and family breakdown.

  •  Welfare Payments Reform

    Welfare Payments Reform framework is designed to promote positive parenting in the best interests of children.

 Family relationships

  •  Family Relationship Services Program (FRSP)

    Family Relationship Services Program (FRSP) is jointly funded by the Attorney-General's Department (AGD) and the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA).

  •  Men and Family Relationships Services

    Men and Family Relationships Services work alongside men to assist them to manage a range of relationship issues with partners, ex-partners and children.

  •  Recognition of same-sex relationships

    The Government introduced wide-ranging reforms to ensure that same-sex de facto couples and their families are recognised and have the same entitlements as opposite-sex de facto couples.
