The Northern Territory Emergency Response (NTER) is a whole-of-government initiative. FaHCSIA oversees its implementation. The Government is committed to consultation and engagement with Northern Territory communities in improving the NTER. Government Business Managers have been appointed to communities to help coordinate Northern Territory Emergency Response measures on the ground. The Northern Territory Emergency Response (NTER) Taskforce was appointed by the former Australian Government to provide advice and oversee the implementation of the emergency measures in their first year. The Australian Defence Force – the Army's NORFORCE unit – assisted with implementation of the Northern Territory Emergency Response, mainly in the first six months.
